Round two of PSO funded Southern Youth Zone Programme begins at IRC

Young professionals from four young Southern partners of Bangladesh, Ghana, Guatemala and Uganda started training for one month at IRC as part of a the second round of PSO funded Southern Youth Zone Programme from 2010 to 2012. The programme aims at strengthening the knowledge and skills of eight young professionals involved in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Resource Centre Networks. After the training, the young professionals go for nine months to a local RCN in another country. The new batch of Young Professionals arrived at IRC on Monday 26 September for their one month training programme , in which they’ll prepare themselves for their nine month adventure in another country and organization.
The new batch of young professionals consists of:
Md. Mahidul Islam from BRAC Bangladesh, going to RCN Nepal/ENPHO and SNV Nepal
Peter Simon Sekuma from NETWAS Uganda, going to CONIWAS in Ghana
Basilia Nanbigne from CONIWAS in Ghana, going to NETWAS Uganda
Andrés Gil from Fundacion Solar/RASGUA in Guatemala going to FHIS in Honduras
The training is given by IRC facilitators as well as external specialists. The extensive programme focuses on enhancing the young professionals’ knowledge in a particular content area. It also aims at improving their skills for facilitating learning in the sector. This will contribute to enhanced capacities for knowledge sharing and learning of the resource centres involved. It also aims to help inter-regional sharing and learning.
The experience got during the training will then be taken by the young professionals to their home organizations.
PSO is an association that consists of 60 Dutch development organizations. The association focuses on capacity development at civil society organizations in developing countries.
