Uganda to host meeting on unclogging blockages in Sanitation in Africa

Post date: Nov 13, 2013 12:51:49 PM

Join sanitation professionals to explore how to achieve better and faster results of public and private sector sanitation service delivery. Part of this is learning what others are doing and what they see and understand are the major barriers to move forward. The meeting which will take place from February 17-20, 2014, Kampala, Uganda will also look at how is it possible to work better together in innovative ways that integrates community and market approaches and that branch across sectors and organizations.

Group Therapy for the Sanitation Sector

The primary target audiences are the different partners that want to get shit flowing in sustainable sanitation work. This includes NGO, Business Development Services (BDS) partners, donors, UN agencies, development banks, local government and regulatory partners, MFIs, private sector partners, and social investors. There is a need to bring these groups together to share, reflect, and understand what the major constraints are to better and quicker progress and impact. This action exchange aims to be a unique multi-stakeholder meeting to get to the bottom of important challenges and grow ideas for Unclogging the Blockages.

The Action Exchange

Unclogging the Blockages is about action. The action exchange will be organized according to several themes (several are proposed below) with experts from each of these subject areas presenting and leading small group discussions with their peers on what are the main challenges and barriers for moving forward. After these initial discussions, the challenges will be presented to larger mixed groups and a facilitated discussion will take place to find solutions. These discussions will also be oriented towards skill and knowledge transfer for the uninitiated. Participants will leave the meeting with specific action plans and ideas to test.
