EU Water Facility project

EU Water facility project:  Increasing the right to access improved and sustainable WASH interventions for the underserved and vulnerable Communities of Luwero, Kamuli, Tororo and Lira districts of Uganda.

 The EU Water facility project was a 3 year project implemented by Plan Uganda and NETWAS. The project covered four districts of Kamuli, Luwero, Lira and Tororo districts in 16 sub counties from April 2011 to March 2013.

With the overall objective  to contribute to the achievement of the water and sanitation MDGs (7) that seek to halve by 2015 the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water, hygiene and basic sanitation vital for themselves but also a key pre-requisite for reducing child and maternal mortality (MDGS 4 &5) and combating diseases (MDG6)

Specifically the project intended “to increase the communities’ access to improved water supply, basic sanitation, and hygiene promotion among 86,520 men, women, in and out of school children, PWDs, teachers and extension workers like VHTs in the districts.”
